Document AI can classify files, extract fields, compare values, and identify missing evidence. It should not silently absorb the professional judgment that follows.
Separate extraction from interpretation
Every important field should link to the original page, version, and extraction status. The reviewer needs to see both the structured result and the source.
Use deterministic checks first
Presence, identity, dates, signatures, arithmetic, and configured relationships can often be checked explicitly. Language models are most useful for normalization, retrieval, and drafting.
Record the outcome
Counting alerts creates weak ROI. Track the reviewer decision, correction, submission, release, payment, or other final result.
